SUMMARY:Sexual Assault\, Domestic Violence\, and the Cycle of Justice
DESCRIPTION:EVAW Internationals 2024 conference theme is Cycle of Justice\, reflecting the reality that justice is not a one-time event\, or even a series of discrete events. A true experience of justice must unfold over time\, cycling through ongoing interactions and practices that consistently convey respect\, honor\, and compassion for everyone affected.  \nEach of us has a unique vision of justice. This vision is powerfully influenced by our personal worldview\, as well as a lifetime of experiences ‒ including our experiences of gender\, age\, race\, class\, culture\, and sexual orientation. A Cycle of Justice takes these experiences into account\, as well as the complex impacts of trauma and suffering.  \nWith an understanding of trauma\, an appreciation of cultural differences\, and an attitude of humility\, all professionals who engage with the criminal justice system can “sprinkle a little justice” into all our moment-to-moment encounters. These encounters could range from a brief phone call with a survivor or their support people\, to minor changes in agency practices or procedures\, to a comprehensive overhaul of an outdated process.

DESCRIPTION:*Please note this event will start at 3:30 am CST * \nThis event will be discussing how Exploitation is Abuse at the first European Virtual Forum (EVF) is taking place on March 22 – 23. \nThe hard reality is that reports of Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM) and Child Sexual Exploitation Materials (CSEM) are skyrocketing around the world. Our hotlines seeing a huge increase in cases and with that increase comes challenges. The aim of the 2023 EVF is to refocus our attention on the chain of events that occur in the process of CSAM and CSEM production\, distribution and consumption. We need to tackle each part of the chain to stop the domino effect and eliminate this content online.

DESCRIPTION:*Please note this event will start at 12:00 pm CST* \n(French translation below) \nThis webinar will discuss the unique experiences of female identified adolescents of African descent in Canada\, and their experiences with gender-based violence in schools. Specific attention will be given to cultures of violence\, how they manifest\, and the need to attend to prevention\, as opposed to the current focus on punishment\, when addressing the intersectional experiences of Black girls. \nWe offer our Webinars in both official languages: English and French. This Webinar will run in English with simultaneous French and American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation. A Webinar recording in English and French will be made available after the Webinar. DESCRIPTION:This online workshop is intended to provide folks with the information\, skills\, and opportunity to understand and practice consent. Through activities and discussion\, we will bust myths about sexualized violence and gender\, explore the concept of rape culture and learn about consent (what it is\, why it’s required\, how to practice it). \nThis consent workshop offers a chance for us to talk in a supportive and sex positive virtual space about how we can build consent into our everyday lives and into our relationships with the people we care about.
