SUMMARY:Substance Use Coercion and IPV Survivors in Family Court
DESCRIPTION:Many survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) experience substance use coercion\, which occurs when abusers attempt to control survivors through tactics related to substance use. Common tactics include forcing survivors to use substances\, preventing survivors from accessing treatment programs\, and purposefully sabotaging the recovery process. This webinar will provide an overview on the issue of substance use coercion and its impact on survivors of IPV. It will also discuss the intersection of substance use coercion and the family court system for survivors of IPV\, including the prevalence of the issue amongst litigants in both the Canadian and American family court systems\, how family court personnel can best address the issue\, and promising practices for supporting survivors impacted by the issue in the family court system.

SUMMARY:Worker Voice with a Gender Lens — New Opportunities to Increase Inclusion and Equity in Supply Chains
DESCRIPTION:*Please note this event will start at 9:00 am CST* \nJoin the International Center for Research on Women’s corporate advisory team for a timely discussion on leveraging gender-targeted data to help suppliers create inclusive programs\, improve their bottom-line performance\, and empower women workers. \nWorker voice tools are mechanisms that allow workers to share their needs and experiences in the workplace. They help to inform better policies\, practices\, and business decisions\, and they are becoming an increasingly powerful tool in the hands of employers. Yet\, many worker voice surveys deployed in global supply chains have a blind spot — they are almost always missing a specific gender dimension. \nThe session will introduce the Gender Equity Worker Voice tool and explore the following questions: Why do worker surveys need to be gender inclusive? What does it mean to develop women-centric questions and\, how should you go about doing it? Presenters will also share a few best practices to follow when co-creating inclusive questions and discuss how they leveraged participation from brands\, factories\, and\, principally\, women workers in developing the tool.

SUMMARY:"Ask an Expert" Parenting and Sexualized Behavior Support conversation
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an informal session with our Child Therapist. Learn information related to parenting and supporting children and youth who display concerning sexualized behaviours. \nOR maybe you want to join us to discuss a situation or behaviour your child is engaging in and get some advice on what is developmentally appropriate\, how to support and respond etc. \nOur expert can give a short overview of the sexualized behaviour program and frequent concerns and conversations\, leaving us with plenty of time for participants to privately and publicly ask questions and join in discussion with our clinical expert. \nChildren and youth develop in many ways\, but lots of things might affect a child’s/youth’s sexual development\, leading to some concerning sexual behaviour. Sexual behaviours may become a problem if they are harmful to the child/youth or others\, occur between children/youth of very different ages or developmental levels\, or take the place of typical childhood activities. \nCASASC believes that concerning sexual behaviour can serve a number of functions for children and youth\, so understanding the behaviour and how and why it is occurring is important. Sexual behaviour concerns\, or sexually acting out\, looks very different for different people. \nRegistration is required only so we can share access to the session with you\, you may remain anonymous in the session itself by keeping your screen turned off and having a different zoom name.

SUMMARY:Exploitation is Abuse
DESCRIPTION:*Please note this event will start at 3:30 am CST * \nThis event will be discussing how Exploitation is Abuse at the first European Virtual Forum (EVF) is taking place on March 22 – 23. \nThe hard reality is that reports of Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM) and Child Sexual Exploitation Materials (CSEM) are skyrocketing around the world. Our hotlines seeing a huge increase in cases and with that increase comes challenges. The aim of the 2023 EVF is to refocus our attention on the chain of events that occur in the process of CSAM and CSEM production\, distribution and consumption. We need to tackle each part of the chain to stop the domino effect and eliminate this content online.
